The ESR Stat Plus and its successor, the ESR Stat 6, are erythrocyte sedimentation rate analyzers designed by HemaTechnologies. Hospitals use the ESR Stat Plus and ESR Stat 6 in laboratories to conduct blood tests that analyze the amount of inflammatory activity in a human body. These instruments produce fast and reliable results that give doctors an insight into their patients’ health conditions.
With the results from a sed rate test, doctors can determine if the patient has a regular sed rate which is usually up to 15-20 millimeters per hour for men depending on their age, and up to 20-30 millimeters per hour for women also depending on their age, and up to 13 millimeters per hour for children approaching puberty.
However, if test results show that patients have sed rates above these levels, they have abnormal sed rates and might be suffering from certain health conditions. In such situations, the patient would have to undergo further blood tests to pinpoint their health issues and help their doctor acquire a diagnosis.
Doctors also use sed rate tests to monitor the progress of pre-existing inflammatory ailments. When the sed rate test results of patients with inflammatory diseases are higher or lower than they should be, it provides their doctors with information on the patient’s current status.
